Pizza Burgers

Pizza meets a burger, complete with your favorite toppings; pepperoni and Pearls sliced olives! Eat your heart out!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 4 brioche hamburger buns
  • 1 cup pizza sauce, warmed
  • 1 tablespoon freshly chopped basil
  • 1 1/2 pounds 85/15 ground beef
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 6 ounces mini pepperoni
  • 1 can Pearls Sliced Ripe Olives, drained
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Cooking Instructions

  1. Place a large sauté pan over medium heat and add the butter, olive oil, garlic, and red pepper flakes.
  2. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the garlic just begins to turn golden.
  3. Quickly dip the cut sides of the buns in the seasoned butter and toast the buns until golden brown, about 2 minutes.  Remove and set aside.
  4. Shape the beef into four 6-ounce patties and season generously with salt and pepper.
  5. Place the burger patties in the skillet and cook over medium heat, pressing down gently with a spatula so that the meat just begins to spread and to create caramelization.
  6. Cook the burgers on both sides to your desired doneness.  During the last 2 minutes of cooking, top each burger with 2 slices of cheese and cover the pan to melt the cheese.  Remove the burgers and keep warm.
  7. To the same pan, add the pepperoni and sauté over high heat for 2 minutes to crisp.
  8. To assemble, spoon 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce onto each bottom hamburger bun, then top then top with a burger patty, another spoonful of sauce, crispy pepperoni, and Pearls Sliced Ripe Olives. Finish with parmesan cheese.
